Terms of use

What this site is

Pixgrain provides image conversion, compression and resizing tools that run entirely in your browser. They are offered free of charge, without registration, and without limits on file size or the number of files.

One item is paid: the finished passport photo, a single purchase of €6 with no subscription and no recurring charge. It is sold through a merchant of record, who becomes the seller you contract with and handles VAT and refunds. What is refundable and what is not is set out in the refund policy.

Because processing happens on your own device, this site is closer to a piece of software you run than a service that acts on your behalf. That shapes everything below.

Your files

You keep every right you had in the files you process. Nothing is uploaded, stored, transmitted, examined or licensed. The operator never receives your files and therefore cannot access, retain, disclose or lose them.

You are responsible for having the right to process the images you use here. Do not use the site to handle material you are not entitled to handle.

Acceptable use

You may not use this site to:

  • process material that is unlawful where you are, or that you have no right to possess or modify;
  • process or produce sexually explicit, pornographic or otherwise adult material — see the section below;
  • create material intended to deceive — forged documents, fabricated records, or images misrepresented as authentic;
  • interfere with the site’s operation, or attempt to gain access to systems that serve it;
  • redistribute the site’s code as your own service, contrary to the licences of its components.

Since files are never transmitted, none of this can be enforced technically. It is stated because it defines what the site is offered for, and using it otherwise is your responsibility, not a shared one.

No adult or sexually explicit content

Pixgrain may not be used to process, edit, convert, resize, compress or otherwise prepare sexually explicit, pornographic, or adult (NSFW) material of any kind. This prohibition is absolute. It does not carve out private use, artistic intent, or content made by and for consenting adults.

Any sexual depiction of a minor is forbidden without qualification. That is a criminal matter in every jurisdiction this site is offered in, not merely a breach of these terms.

These tools exist for ordinary photographic work — converting between formats, reducing file size, fitting an image to a required dimension, and preparing identity photographs to official specification. Using them for material described in this section is a breach of these terms and withdraws your permission to use the site.

No warranty

The site is provided as is, without warranty of any kind. Image processing involves format conversion, lossy compression and codecs written by third parties; results may not always match your expectation, and some files may fail to process. Keep your originals. Do not rely on this site as the only copy of anything.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the operator is not liable for any loss arising from use of the site, including loss or corruption of data. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.

Availability

There is no guarantee of availability. Pages may change, tools may be added or withdrawn, and the site may be taken offline. Because everything runs locally, an outage affects only your ability to load the page, never work already downloaded.

Third-party components

The tools are built on open-source codecs and libraries — among them mozjpeg, libwebp, libavif, libpng, oxipng, libheif, pdf.js, pdf-lib and resvg. Each is used under its own licence, and those licences continue to govern the components themselves.

Governing law and changes

These terms are governed by the law of Moldova. They may be updated, and the date at the top will change when they are. Continuing to use the site after a change means accepting it.
